WWP withdraws wind farm siting application

Posted: Wednesday, Oct 9th, 2013

CHEYENNE - The time just wasn't right.

Wyoming Wind and Power (WWP), the company backing a 300-wind turbine power project based mainly in Platte County, recently withdrew their LLC permit application to the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality's Industrial Siting Council, halting the project indefinitely.

Ryan Fitzpatrick of WWP wrote the letter, dated for Sept. 16. In the letter, Fitzpatrick expressed the company's desire to withdraw the application, citing numerous reasons, including the likelihood the project would qualify for federal funding and the change in power marketing opportunities.

"Please understand that this decision has not been made lightly and every effort has been made to keep the project on the timeline presented in the application," Fitzpatrick wrote. "WW&P (sic) feels that it is in the best interest of all concerned that...resources not be expended when WW&P has not been able to secure all of the necessary elements in the timeframe it anticipated when beginning this process."
