Breast cancer fight for life: a local, personal story

Editor's note: This is Part I in honor of October: National Breast Cancer Awareness month.

WHEATLAND - With October being National Breast Cancer Awareness month, it is only fitting that we are reminded of the myriad of women and men who have been victims of this disease. So it is with this story of a young woman who grew up in this community that battling this disease is again brought to the forefront.

Laine Connolly (WHS Class of 90) is the daughter of Steve and Murel Connolly. After attaining a degree from University of Wyoming, she headed for California for a job as a middle school language arts teacher. But those are just the historical facts, ones that could describe hundreds of people. What came about thereafter was a story of suffering and grit.
