WVFD purchases new equipment with $25,500 donation

Posted: Wednesday, Aug 14th, 2013

WHEATLAND – Representatives of the Basin Electric Power Cooperative (BEPC and the Missouri Basin Power Project (MBPP) said thank you in a big way to the Wheatland Volunteer Fire Department (WVFD).

In light of firefighter assistance at the Laramie River Station earlier this year, the MBPP and BEPC recently donated a total of $25,500 to the WVFD. Fire Chief Scott Scheller said the department bought 14 sets of firefighter gear.

“It was quite a surprise,” Scheller said. “I thought it was very generous of them to do that.”

The MBPP is responsible for the lion's share of the donation, contributing $25,000 while the BEPC donated $500.
