Piping in Plaid: Bagpipe band is on the rise

Photo/Vicki Hood. The Scottish Society of Southeast Wyoming has gained fame for the unique Celtic music of their pipe and drum band.


CHEYENNE-For nearly nine years, a band of musicians that also happen to be good friends have gathered to play instruments that are as much about their country of origin as they are about the music extracted.

Arguably a windy bunch for the most part, four bagpipe enthusiasts and members of the Scottish Society of Southeastern Wyoming, Tim Carroll, Dana Anderson, Bob McLelland and Raymond Nelson took on the task of forming a bagpipe band in Cheyenne. Their first practice was held in the home of Tim Carroll and it could easily be said the rest is history.

They are no longer a well-kept secret and as they become more widely known, demand is increasing for their special kind of music for events.
