WHEATLAND – The Laramie Peak Stockgrowers’ Supreme Cow Contest is an event at The Platte County Fair that goes much farther than showing a finished animal and selling that animal at the 4-H/FFA sale.
Supreme Cow Contest participants start with a bred heifer or heifers the first year in the project. They show their heifer the first year and bring her back with her calf the next year and hopefully return the third year with the same cow as a three-year-old with her second calf. They can also start a new heifer or heifers each year and take each one through the program as they continue with their pairs. Their animals are also eligible to show in the traditional 4-H/FFA shows.
