WHEATLAND Ė Last Thursday, June 27, the Platte County Commissioners passed a resolution putting our county into a fire ban. It is very similar to rules put on in the past, but there are a few changes. This ban is only in effect outside of city limits of the five towns that are located in the county. Within the city limits, the town governments set their own regulations.
This resolution bans fireworks and controlled burns. It also puts some restrictions on other uses of fire. Trash burning, campfires, grilling, welding and branding fires are still allowed if certain conditions are met. All other uses of fire are banned. Also, this year we have added smoking to the list.
