WHEATLAND – After 16 years, Denzil Mauk has decided to retire.

The Wheatland Bible Church pastor plans to move back to his home state of Indiana with his final service being June 30.

Mauk called the move bittersweet.

“We’re parting on good terms,” he said. “The church has been wonderful to me. It’s been a great experience.”

Mauk is moving closer to his family in the eastern states.

“It’s definitely sad,” Mauk said. “This has been home for over 16 years. These are our friends, and we’ve been treated extremely well. Yet, there’s an excitement, too, of being closer to family. It’s a bittersweet thing; it really is.”
