Council declares Poppy Day, considers landfill fees

WHEATLAND The Wheatland Town Council passed the second reading of an ordinance proposing dumping fees for the Wheatland Landfill.

The current ordinance calls for fees for rubber tires 16.5 or smaller ($6 per tire), 17 to 24.5 tires ($8 per tire) and tires larger than 24.5 ($25 per tire). The ordinance also calls for an additional $5 charge for tires still attached to the rim, $40 per ton of concrete and $35 per ton of waste dumped in the landfill.
