WHEATLAND – It still has a long way to go, but plans for the new Platte County nursing home are in motion.

Platte County Memorial Nursing Home administrator Shane Filipi said hospital officials, the public and Boulder Associates Architects have been reviewing plans for the new facility for weeks with a construction date slated for August.

Last August, voters in Platte County passed Proposition 1, which led to the reinstatement of a one-percent tax to fund the construction of a new nursing home and assisted living facility. According to Filipi, the need for the new nursing home came about because the current facility is outdated.

“There was a preliminary study done…and it was decided then that this nursing home wouldn’t be big enough to accommodate the growing population in Platte County,” Filipi said.
