A funeral service for Roy Glen Nichols, 81, was held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2013 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Wheatland with Bishop Paul May conducting.
Roy Nichols died Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at his home near Wheatland of natural causes.
He was born Jan. 26, 1932 the son of Glenn L. and Arline L. (Byers) Nichols in Oakland, Calif.
Roy was reared and educated in Oakland where he graduated from Frick High School. After graduation he went to Laney College which was a trade school. After getting his associate degree he became a tradesman in all the trades dealing with sheet metal. He came to Wheatland in the late 80s to help care for his mother. Once he came to Wheatland, he decided to retire here. Some of his hobbies included guns, model airplanes and cars.
He is survived by his sons, David Nichols of Grand Junction, Colo. and Gary Nichols of Tracy, Calif.; brother, Donald W. Nichols of Wheatland; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Serving as pallbearers will be Don Nichols, Gary Nichols, David Nichols, Jason Nichols, Josh Nichols and Brandon Nichols.
Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Jarret Riggle.
Friends and family may call at the church from noon to 1 p.m.
Arrangements are under the direction of Gorman Funeral Homes – Platte Chapel of Wheatland.
