Chugwater to play wind power role?

CHUGWATER – The wind that so frequently blows through southern Platte County could be put to good use in the future.

Duke Energy American Transmission Company (DATC) announced a $3.5-billion wind energy transmission line that would run from near Chugwater to California and other locations in the southeast US.

DATC spokeswoman Ann Spaltholz said the project is still in its early stages and would connect to a Pathfinder Renewable Wind Energy, 2,100-megawatt wind farm to be built in Chugwater. The line would stretch approximately 850 miles.
