Council approves wrestling donation

WHEATLAND – The Wheatland Town Council agreed to assist a local sports organization with important equipment during their monthly meeting.

The council unanimously approved a $2,000 donation to the High Plains Thunder Wrestling Club to be used toward buying a new wrestling mat.

“Our community has been very outstanding in helping us out,” said Head Coach Tom Reed. “At this time, we’re in need of a new wrestling mat. The one we own as a club was purchased 12 years ago, and just as a safety concern more than anything else, those mats get hard and not as safe for the kids.”
