WHEATLAND – In this Valentine season, it is important to look at the lives of clergymen just as anyone else whose heart runs amok when that special person comes into view. Although these two couples have been married different amounts of time and are in far different stages of family life, there is one major foundation that is similar.

Easter morning 1997 brought together two very unlikely people: one a senior theater major at Ball State (Muncie, Ind.) and the other a future Lutheran minister doing a one-year internship before returning to seminary.
“I only went to church twice a year—Easter and Christmas, and then only to please my mother,” said Ton Winter, the female half of this loving couple.
