Vikings burn Hulett 69-45

GUERNSEY – The Guernsey-Sunrise Vikings (14-3) kept their winning momentum going for a second week, recording a double-digit victory over the Hulett Red Devils (4-13 overall, 3-6 conference) 69-45 during Saturday’s game.

Sophomore Treasure Hollister led the Vikings in scoring, putting 20 points on the board with sophomore Brady Esquibel and junior Isaac Carr close behind with 16 and 12 points, respectively. Esquibel put up two three-pointers in Saturday’s contest.

Guernsey-Sunrise is slated to take on the Pine Bluffs Hornets on Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 4 p.m. at home. The Hornets (10-6 overall, 4-1 conference) are having a solid season so far and are in second place behind the Niobrara County Tigers (17-2 overall, 7-0 conference) in the 2A Southeast conference. Pine Bluffs is coming off a 55-30 loss to Leyton, Neb., and will face Potter-Dix, Neb. and the Tigers before heading to Guernsey.

Tuesday is the only meeting between Pine Bluffs and Guernsey-Sunrise this season.

Guernsey-Sunrise is first place in the 1A Southeast conference. The latest WyoPreps poll places the Vikings at No. 4 in the 1A class. The top three are Burlington, Ten Sleep and Little Snake River.
