WHEATLAND – The Wheatland Lady Bulldogs remain in sixth place in the 3A East conference after a 1-1 weekend against Rawlins and Buffalo.
The girls squad fell to the second-place Lady Outlaws (12-2 overall, 6-1 conference) on Friday 65-38 but pulled off a four-point win against the Lady Bison of Buffalo 36-32. The Lady Bison are fourth in 3A East at 10-6 overall and 3-4 within the conference.
The Lady Bulldogs are hoping for more success as they prepare to travel to Newcastle this Friday for a 7 p.m. tip-off. The Lady Dogies (10-5 overall, 5-2 conference) sit at third place in the 3A East. Newcastle is coming off of a 52-48 victory over the Torrington Lady Trailblazers (7-7 overall, 3-4 conference). The Lady Dogies and Lady Bulldogs last met on Jan. 4, when Newcastle won 45-34.
The Lady Bulldogs come home for a Saturday matchup against the Lady Blazers. Torrington is on a three-game slide, falling to fellow 3A East teams Douglas, Buffalo and Newcastle. They are scheduled host Scottsbluff, Neb. on Tuesday. The Lady Bulldogs are looking to avenge their loss from the last time they played the Lady Blazers on Jan. 5 and lost 70-34.
