GUERNSEY – The Guernsey-Sunrise Vikings recovered from a tough loss against Moorcroft’s Wolves on Friday to trounce the Southeast Cyclones 66-37.
The Vikings recorded their third overall loss against Moorcroft on the road, dropping a game 67-56. They came back strong to take down Southeast, and remain handily on top of the 1-A Southeast conference at 13-3.
According to the latest WyoPreps poll, Guernsey-Sunrise is No. 5 in Class 1A behind Encampment, Little Snake River, Ten Sleep and Burlington. They are seven games ahead of No. 2 Rock River (6-7 overall) in 1-A Southeast.
The Vikings are scheduled to host the Hulett Red Devils this Saturday. The Red Devils (3-11 overall, 2-5 conference) are on a six-game losing streak with their last win being against Normative Services on Jan. 4. They were slated to take on Arvada-Clearmont on Tuesday. Hulett is fourth of six teams in the 1A Northeast conference.
The Vikings hit the road next Tuesday, squaring off against the Niobrara County Tigers. The first-place 2A Southeast Tigers (16-1 overall, 7-0 conference) are on a hot seven-game winning streak and will face the Doggers of Lingle-Fort Laramie this weekend before facing Guernsey-Sunrise.
