Hello, Platte County!

Posted: Wednesday, Jan 9th, 2013

Hi there, residents of Wheatland and Platte County! For those of you who donít know me yet, my name is Adam Louis, and Iím the new editor of your newspaper.

I was born and raised in Ohio, and I lived in the Akron-Canton area for a vast majority of my life. I started my career as a journalist writing freelance for a couple of northeast Ohio newspapers and writing for my college paper at Bowling Green State University. I moved out to Wyoming in 2010, where I worked for the Torrington Telegram as a staff writer. I wore many hats on that job, literally and figuratively.

I enjoyed my time with the Telegram. Through good times and bad, the experience I gained and the opportunities the position provided are absolutely invaluable. Iím sincerely honored to have served Goshen County and to serve Platte County now.

The people of southeast Wyoming have been nothing but kind to me so far, and Iíve seen just how far they will go out of their way to help one another or even a stranger like me. I see my job as one way to give back to those who have been so good to me. I believe God gave me a gift in my ability to write. Now, how good or bad that gift really is in the eyes of you, dear readers, isnít something for me to decide.

That said, if you do have feedback, criticisms, compliments, letters to the editor or if you just want to shoot the breeze, please contact me. I welcome correspondence from my readers and am happy to hear about whatís going on this community Iím just now getting to know. That just shows me you care.

I know I have big shoes to fill now that Amber is gone, but Iíll do everything in my power to make sure you continue to get high-quality, accurate, local news.

I have a few ideas for how Iíd like the paper to look both on paper and off, one of which is the creation of a Facebook page. It doesnít have an easy-to-remember domain name yet, but those of you on Facebook can now stay on top of top news stories of the week, photos, breaking news, weather alerts and more. Just go to the search bar and type in ďThe Platte County Record Times,Ē and it should come up.

So, whatís next? What are the upcoming events? What would you like to see happen with your paper? I welcome this feedback, news tips and more, because letís face it: without you, I canít do my job.

Looking forward to working with you!
