Bulldog wrestlers open season at Blazer Duals

TORRINGTON The Wheatland Bulldog wrestlers opened the wrestling season with the varsity squad in Torrington and the JV in Yoder. In JV action at the Southeast Invite in Yoder, Wyo., Michael Schmidl was the JV heavyweight Champion, Tel Parmely placed 2nd and Kevin Grimes and Josh Calvert finished in 3rd place.

The Blazer Duals in Torrington was the main event for eastern Wyoming wrestlers this weekend. It included teams from eastern Wyoming and western Nebraska. The meet featured several regionally and nationally ranked wrestlers. In the dual format for the varsity teams, the Bulldogs placed 4th of 8 teams, losing a close final match to Cheyenne South in the 3rd/4th match by a score of 30-42.
