Just put a chunk of wood in his hands and see what results

Out in Rick Tracts there's a little shop full of machines, tools and wood, all of which are combined into works of art at the hands of one Al Cox.

Whether it's a beautifully handcrafted pen and pencil set made from palm wood, an expertly turned salad bowl of dark walnut, a stately wooden goblet of multi-grained hickory, a baby rattle with moving rings lathed from one piece of hard maple or a unique pen from an elk antler, this patient woodworker produces a myriad of items.

"I started collecting tools when Karen (his late wife who was the daughter of late Pastor Gordon and Betty Swedberg) and I lived in a townhouse in Greeley. I had tools stashed everywhere awaiting retirement when I could put them to use," Cox smiled as he recalled his long-awaited passion.
