Ray B. Hamilton

Ray died April 10 at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center of a natural death of respiratory failure and interstitial pneumonitis.

Ray was born in Yoder Feb. 15, 1928, the son of William “Tex” and Vina (Booth) Hamilton. He was raised on the family homestead, attended Yoder school, worked on farms, served in the U.S. Army at the end of WWII and again during the Korea conflict. After serving his country, Ray worked at many different occupations.

Ray married Kathryn “Katy” Hellmer on Aug. 31, 1963, in Wymore, Neb. After marriage he worked on ranches, as a backhoe operator, roustabout, gang-pusher and mechanic for an oil company.

Ray and Katy moved to Wheatland the fall of 1991, where resided until death.

Ray is survived by his wife, Katy; his son, Arthur (Charley), wife Levi, son Bendren Hamilton and stepson Ruben Preeze, Ariz; his son, Glen, wife Tandi and daughter Harley Hamilton, of Hudson; and his brother, Jack Hamilton, of Wheatland.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Mary Pownell, Ruth Hughes, Daisy Wilson and Jessie Liske; and his brother, Roy Hamilton.

Celebration of life for Ray Hamilton will be held June 21 from 2-4 p.m. at Lewis Park in Wheatland.
