Sergeant First Class James Harold Patterson U.S. Army, 95 of Laramie, passed away May 30. He was born April 20, 1919, to Clara May and Fred Harold Patterson, the eldest of six children.
Jimís family spent the Depression in Hartville and Guernsey. He was drafted into the Army in 1941 and assigned to the 79th Infantry Division Artillery, landing in Normandy days after D-Day. He earned the Bronze Star and five campaign awards.
In 1948, he married Evelyn Paradise, and after a career in the Army, he started Patterson Water Well Drilling.
Jim was known for his stories, knowledge and strong values, and he never wavered in support of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, wife Evelyn and many friends. He is survived by his daughters, Glenda (Don) Burgess and Sandi (Rex) Rees of Laramie; his grandchildren, Kelli (Ryan) Schrenk, Clayton Burgess, Kylan (Kara) Burgess, Owen, Garrett and Erin Rees; his great-grandchildren, Sadie, Kelsie, Ryllie and Leah Schrenk and Kaelyn and Corbin Burgess; his sister-in-law Ardith Woo; and nieces and nephews.
