Ethel Loretta Belden passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 31, 2014, after a lengthy illnes,s, going to her heavenly home to join her parents, son Bruce and great grandson, Milo. She leaves behind her husband, Ben, and her son Brett and wife Isabelle, all of Thermopolis; her daughter of Cheyenne; her son Brad and wife Kelly of Wellington, Colo.; her brother Rocky and wife Jo of Wheatland.

Ethel was born Dec 7, 1933, in Wheatland to Paul and Pearl Lawrence. She grew up in Wheatland, graduating from Wheatland High school, where she was active in many activities. She was baptized in 1950 at the First Christian Church in Wheatland. Ethel married W. Ben Belden Jr. April 28, 1952, and moved to Sidney, Neb., to raise her family. In Sidney, Ethel was active in Mrs. Jaycees, serving as regional vice president for one year. Ethel was a cheerleader at Wheatland High School and continued to “cheer on” her family when involved in Boy and Girl Scouts, 4-H and many sports. Her heart was always in Wheatland. She also enjoyed making “goodies” for friends and neighbors and helping seniors.

In 1974, the Beldens moved to Fort Collins, Colo., where Ethel continued to be involved in family activities, the PTA and crafts.

Ethel was Grandma B to 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She will be missed by her family and friends and all the neighborhood children who were treated to cookies by “Grandma B.”

Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on June 16 at the Wheatland Cemetery in Wheatland.
