A graveside service for Virgil Wayne Reynolds, 67, was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 12 at the Wheatland Cemetery in Wheatland with The Reverend Jane Willis of the United Church of Christ officiating.
Virgil Reynolds passed away on Monday, May 5, at the Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland.
Virgil was born Sept. 15, 1946 in Emmett, Idaho the son of Clifford Wayne Harden and Dorothy (Huff) Reynolds.
He was raised and educated in Emmett. Virgil was a gifted athlete at Emmett High School and played all sports, but was on exceptional boxer. He joined the United States Navy in 1963.
Virgil married Elsie Canaday on Aug. 6, 1994 and they made their home at 82 Twenty-ninth Street in Wheatland.
He worked construction in California, Arizona, and Oregon. After working construction he became a nurse’s aide and then later was the regional manager for transportation for Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway.
He enjoyed playing Santa Claus for the nursing home, Safeway, Pamida, the hospital, and families around Platte County.
Some of his hobbies included going fishing, sports trivia, reading, and most of all, playing poker.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie Reynolds of Wheatland; step daughter, Deborah Brownrigg of Farmington, N.M ; brothers, Billy (Sandy) Reynolds and Kenny Reynolds; sister, Kathy, of Emmett; and many nieces and nephews in the Idaho/ Wyoming area.
He was loved by his little girl cocker spaniels, Baily, Abigail, Jasmine, Lily, and Oreo, which he called grandson.
