Funeral services for Doris Louise Marshall, 93, will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 2, at the Gorman Funeral Chapel – Platte Chapel in Wheatland with Pastor Andy Gudahl of the First Christian Church officiating. Interment will be held at the Wheatland Cemetery.
Doris Marshall died Saturday, Dec. 28 at Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland.
She was born in York, Neb. on Oct. 26, 1920 and moved to Wheatland in 1921 with her parents, Grover and Gladys Preuit and her brother Don where they homesteaded on the Wheatland Flats. Doris attended country schools as a child and then went to high school in Wheatland. She married Alvis M. Marshall in 1939 and they had one son, Alvis E. Marshall. She and her husband farmed for many years before moving into town. Doris became a beautician until she retired at age 75. She enjoyed her grandkids and playing cards. She also enjoyed taking care of her yard, even mowing while she was able.
She is survived by her son, Alvis; grandchildren, Troy and Toby Marshall; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty -one years; parents, Grover and Gladys Preuit; and three brothers, Donald, Dean, and Delos Preuit.
Arrangements are under the direction of Gorman Funeral Homes – Platte Chapel of Wheatland.
