Charles Frank “Chuck” Thorne Jr.

Charles Frank “Chuck” Thorne Jr., 77, passed away Monday, Sept. 16, 2013 at the Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland.

Chuck was born on Aug. 11, 1936 in Worland, the son of Charles Frank and Beauna (Stone) Thorne.

Chuck was reared and educated in Cheyenne and graduated high school in Cheyenne. When Chuck graduated, he went to the University of Wyoming and attended pharmacy school. After graduating from the University of Wyoming, he met and married Doris Helen Clark. They were married in 1958 in Cheyenne. After they were married, he went into the Army for a couple of years. Once he returned from the Army, he came to Wheatland and worked with his parents at the Thorne Drug Store and eventually bought the drug store from his parents. After he sold the drug store, he went to work for Pamida before retiring. He was involved in the Lions Club, Jaycees and was a long time member of the Wheatland United Methodist Church where he was involved with the Stephen Ministry as a leader and the Quiet Disciples.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Doris Thorne of Wheatland; children, Terry L. (John) Pawleska of Green River, Calvin W. Thorne of Cheyenne, Carolyn K. (Joe) Costantino of Colorado Springs, Colo., Steven R. Thorne of Jackson, Tenn. , and David E. Thorne of Rock Springs; brother, Robert Thorne; grandchildren, Troy Pawleska, Cory (Anissa) Pawleska, Nicole (Cory) Ulferts, Aaron (Megan) Costantino, Gabe Costantino, Sarah Costantino, Ben Costantino, Brianna Thorne and Brandon Thorne; great-grandchildren, Jordyn and Jayden Pawleska, and Christopher Ulferts; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dick Thorne; and grandson, Christopher Thorne.

Services for Chuck will be private.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gorman Funeral Homes – Platte Chapel of Wheatland.
