A funeral service for Sylvia Annita DuVall, 77, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2013 at the Gorman Funeral Homes – Platte Chapel in Wheatland, with the Reverend Lori Modesitt of All Saints Episcopal Church officiating. Inurnment will be at the Wheatland Cemetery.
Sylvia died Thursday, April 18, 2013 at the Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland of natural causes.
She was born May 10, 1936 in Gering, Neb. the daughter of Oscar and Edith (McVay) Jessie. She was raised and educated in Guernsey. She married Leo Earnest DuVall in 1952. Sylvia worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CAN) at the Platte Valley Nursing Home in Hamilton, Mont. and Banner Nursing Home in Torrington. She moved to Wheatland in 2006 to be closer to her sons, Clyde and Larry. She lived at Platte Manor Apartments, where she made many friends. She loved to go fishing and spend time with her family and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Nancy Garness of Hamilton, Mont., Larry (Deb) DuVall of Wheatland, Kathy Barnes of Torrington, and Clyde (Tammy) of Wheatland; brothers, Don Sorrick of Worland, Rusty (Marcelle) Sornick of Torrington, and Scott Sorrick of Minnesota; eight grandchildren; and fifteen plus great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband Leo, Sr. on July 18, 2006; her parents; step-father, Don Sorrick Sr.; brother; sister; and two infant sons.
Memorials can be sent to Platte County Memorial Hospital, P.O. Box 1031, Wheatland, WY 82201 would be appreciated by the family. She received very special care there and really appreciated all the staff and their kindness and care.
