Mildred C. Johnson

A funeral service for Mildred C. Johnson, 83, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 12, 2012 at the United Methodist Church in Wheatland, Wyoming with Doctor Ronald Lee Cobb of Holton, Kansas officiating.

On Thursday, November 8, 2012 we lost and Heaven gained an angel Mildred Johnson a long time resident of Wheatland. Mildred died at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming.

Mildred was born to Lester E. and Isola Mae (Talley) Cobb on June 15, 1929 in Wheatland.

Mildred graduated from the Wheatland High School in 1948, and married the love of her life Peter Wesley Johnson on her nineteenth birthday June 15, 1948 at the United Methodist Church in Wheatland. They celebrated fifty two years of marriage together making the Antelope Gap Community their home.

To this union they raised three children, Gary, Linda, and Lee on the family ranch. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, East of Town Club, and Antelope Gap Grange. She was a twenty three year 4-H leader. Her home was always open to 4-H Junior Leader parties, MYF parties, community get togethers, family, and friends. She enjoyed cooking meals for any gathering, gardening, embroidering, crocheting, canning, and baking. Every year she enjoyed exhibiting her baking, canning, and fancy work at County Fair and State Fair. She won the Premier Culinary award at the State Fair in 2011 along with winning numerous Best of Shows each year.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Ed) Gilbertson of Meriden, Kansas; son, Lee (Evelyn) Johnson of Wheatland; daughter-in-law, Gayle Johnson of Checotah, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Dallas (Jason) Kipper of Lincoln, Nebraska, Tanya (Jason) McGee of Fremont, Nebraska, Dr. Jeremy (Crystal) Johnson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Justin (Ali) Johnson of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Jace Johnson of Fayetteville, Jayme Johnson of Oklahoma City, Ashley Johnson of Wheatland, and Matthew Johnson of Wheatland; eight great grandchildren; sister, Maxine Suntych of Wheatland; nephew, Neil Suntych of Wheatland; aunts, Alice Johnson of Wheatland and Phyllis Cobb of Topeka, Kansas; and cousin Jeri Berg .

Mildred is preceded in death by her parents, Lester on July 26, 1973 and Isola on September 11, 1993; husband, Peter Johnson on September 6, 2000; son, Doctor Gary Johnson on September 11, 2008; niece, Winnie Buckley on September 3, 2008; and infant brother, Austin Elmer Cobb.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dr. Jeremy Johnson, Justin Johnson, Jace Johnson, Jason Kipper, Matthew Johnson, Jason McGee, Billy Wood, R.J. Allison, and Mike Morford

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Tony Weber, Arland Childers, Jim Kittell, John Thalken, Bob Blevins, Jim Blevins, Jim Collins, Roy Hitt, Max Rothleutner, Neil Suntych, Albert Hobbs, and her host of friends and family.

Friends and family may call on the funeral home on Saturday from 4:00 P.M to 6:00 P.M and Sunday from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers memorials to the choice of the donor would be appreciated by the family.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gorman Funeral Homes Platte Chapel of Wheatland.
