A memorial service for James Clayton Boaz, 75, was conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 16, 2010, at the Memorial Baptist Church in Wheatland, Wyoming, with Pastor Craig Cagle officiating.
He died Sunday, July 11, 2010, at the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming, due to complications from a heart attack suffered on July 4, 2010.
James was born November 23, 1934, in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of Clarence Clayton and Elizabeth (Williams) Boaz. He served in the United States Navy during both Korea and Vietnam. He served on both the USS Suisun and the USS Kearsarge. Jim married Juanita May Tomlinson on August 16, 1969, in Downey, California.
The entirety of his professional career was spent working for the Federal Government of the United States, from building Naval Ships to the Space Shuttles, and the Minuteman and Peace Keeper Missiles. Jim was an avid hobbyist of model trains and loved owning Brittney spaniels.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita of Wheatland; two sons, Brian (Leslie) Boaz of Wheatland and James C. (Kathryn Croom) Boaz II of Bothell, Washington; a daughter, Jennifer Summers of Cheyenne; a brother, Charles McGee of Bremerton, Washington; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ralph Boaz.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Thomas Frazier, Brian Boaz, James C. Boaz II, Kerry Summers, Kypp Weatherill, Seth Boaz, Chance Summers, and Cole Weatherill.
Memorials to the American Heart Association would be appreciated by the family.
