A memorial service for James Edward Pebley, 81, will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, February 4, 2010, at the United Methodist Church in Wheatland, Wyoming, with Pastor Skip Perry officiating.
He died Saturday, January 30, 2010, at the Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland.
James was born August 5, 1928, in Lisco, Nebraska, the son of Harry and Agnes (Johnson) Pebley. He was reared and educated in Chappell, Nebraska, graduating from Chappell High School. On September 28, 1952, James married Shirley Lynn Waterman in Big Springs, Nebraska. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from October 1950 to September 1952. Prior to moving to Sterling, Colorado, Jim worked at the Ray Ranch. In Sterling he owned and operated Kaepernik Excavating from 1957-1998 and also had a farm and cattle ranch operation. James and Shirley moved to Wheatland in April of 2000. He enjoyed his family, doing mechanic work, and restoring old tractors. James was a real people person.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Wheatland; two daughters, Lynelle Kay (Randy) Brown and Janna Lee Griffin both of Wheatland; two brothers, Kenneth (Donna) Pebley of Chappell and Marvin (Phyllis) Pebley of Alliance, Nebraska; five grandchildren: Kori (Brown) Wilhelm, Kasey (Brown) Brooks, Kirbie Brown, Kristopher Brown, and Grant Griffin; and five great grandchildren: Mitchell Brooks, Michaela Wilhelm, Matthew Wilhelm, Ethan Brown, and Cayleigh McCrossin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Michael Scott Pebley; and a brother, George Morr.
