The Wheatland boys basketball team capped off its 2013 part of the schedule going 2-1 at the East-West Classic in Douglas Friday and Saturday.
The Bulldogs opened play Friday with a 64-35 win over Lyman and finished of Classic play with a 63-52 loss to Lander and a 47-35 win over Cody on Saturday.
Wheatland used a 17-11 run to open the first period against Lyman and outscored the Eagles 10-6 in the second to grab a 27-17 halftime lead.
The Bulldogs put the game out of reach with a 15-8 advantage in the third.
In game one action Saturday, Wheatland grabbed a 12-11 lead at the end of the first period, but Lander caught fire in the second and outscored the Bulldogs
Lander put up 18 third-quarter points to the Bulldogs’ 16. Wheatland hung tough in the final eight minutes, but could not overcome the halftime deficit.
The Bulldogs ended the weekend with a 12-point win over Cody. Wheatland outscored Cody 11-9 in the first eight minutes, but both offenses went cold in the second and entered halftime knotted at 15-15.
The Bulldogs came out of halftime on fire and used a 17-8 scoring advantage to take control of the contest.
