WHEATLAND – A crowd of about 500 brave souls turned out for the Wheatland Wranglers’ second Annual Charity Ranch Rodeo on Aug. 3.

“Ticket sales and concession-stand receipts were a pleasant surprise, considering there was a tornado watch!” said Lida Christian, wife of Rodeo-Producer Rocky Christian. “All profit, amazingly, there is a profit, again goes to Platte County Memorial Nursing-Home’s special facilities fund.”

“The weather was disappointing, but still the crowd enjoyed themselves,” Rocky added. “So did the contestants, announcer and Quadrille, we surely can’t complain. We were just glad we didn’t have to cancel. Jack and Dean Finnerty judged all events again this year, and Carmen and Cheri Faris were time and score keepers. All the volunteers did a great job.”
