They face conference foes Jackson and Rock Springs before heading to state competition in Cheyenne next week. The schedule is to be announced.

WHEATLAND – The Wheatland Lobos Legion baseball squad is working hard to keep their first place spot in the AA South division. Wheatland took down two conference foes in two games during last week’s action.

The Lobos beat Rock Springs Archie Hay Post No. 24 26-5 during last Wednesday’s matchup. Post No. 24 is in last place with no conference wins and an overall record of 3-21. This past week was the first time the teams have faced off, but it’s not the last as the Lobos are scheduled for a road game at Rock Springs on July 27.

Last week was also the first meeting of the Wheatland Lobos and Jackson Giants, resulting in a Lobo victory of 7-3. The Lobos travel to Jackson on July 26 to face the second-place Giants on the road. Jackson is the closest contender for the No. 1 spot with a 3-1 conference record and 31-23 overall record.

Wheatland’s conference record is 3-0 as of press time and their overall record is 24-14. As they gear up to host regionals this year, their last home game was on Tuesday against the Cheyenne Hawks, who find themselves in third place in AA South at 1-2 conference and 24-25 overall.
