WHEATLAND – The Wheatland High School Lady Bulldogs (8-15 overall, 5-9 conference) had ups and downs this season, and they wrapped up play sitting sixth in the 3A East conference.

The Lady Bulldogs ended the season with a total of 867 points, averaging about 36 points per game. Their highest-scoring win was against Torrington during the first round of regional play in Worland, getting the edge on the Lady Blazers 58-55 in overtime. The regional matchup was the second time the ladies went into overtime during this year’s play; the first being when they took on and beat the Gering Bulldogs in the sixth game of the season. Their lowest-scoring game came against the Douglas Lady Bearcats, who dominated them on Dec. 8 63-15.

During this season, the Lady Bulldogs did not exceed two-game winning streaks. They hit a four-game slump in the middle of the season from Dec. 15 through Jan. 5, bouncing back with a victory over the last-place Glenrock Lady Herders on Jan. 18 41-33.

The girls did not qualify for the state tournament this year, but the girls earned two of their six state basketball titles in 2011 and 2012.

This year, Muira Bunker, Marisa Peterson and Kortni Simonton are graduating.
