Posted: Wednesday, Feb 20th, 2013

Lady Viking Alex Carr looks for an open teammate during an away game against the Lingle-Fort Laramie Lady Doggers. Guernsey-Sunrise will head to regionals in Douglas, tentatively set to take on the Kaycee Lady Bucs on Thursday.

GUERNSEY – The Guernsey-Sunrise Lady Vikings (1-19) continued to have a tough season with two more losses this weekend, dropping games against the Pine Bluffs Lady Hornets (9-12 overall, 2-6 conference) and the No. 2 Lingle-Fort Laramie Lady Doggers (19-2).

The Lady Hornets defeated the Lady Vikes 56-12, then lost two during the weekend against the No. 3 Southeast Lady Cyclones and the Burns Lady Broncs.

The Lady Doggers started out strong on Friday night with 20 unanswered points in the first quarter. It wasn’t until late in the first the Lady Vikes put up two to get on the board.

The Lady Doggers continued their high-scoring streak, tacking on 14 points going into the half with two coming from the Lady Vikings.

The second half was better for Guernsey-Sunrise; the ladies put up 16 points with six in the third quarter and 10 in the fourth. Lingle-Fort Laramie, however, added 20 of their own points to win the game 54-20.

The Lady Vikings head to regionals this week in Douglas. According to Wyopreps, the unofficial matchup for Thursday is the Kaycee Lady Bucs (11-11 overall, 5-3 conference); tipoff is tentatively set for 5:30 p.m.

The Lady Bucs are second in the 1A Northeast behind Upton. The Lady Bucs won the past two games against Ten Sleep, 41-35, and Midwest, 42-32.

The winner of the matchup would take on the winner of the Midwest/Lingle-Fort Laramie game. The winner of that game would qualify for the state tournament.

The loser of the Guernsey-Sunrise/Kaycee game would enter a consolation round against the loser in the Midwest/Lingle Fort Laramie game. The loser of the consolation game is eliminated from the tournament.
