WHEATLAND – Passing the halfway mark of their season, the Wheatland High School Bulldogs basketball squad went 1-1 this past weekend.

The boys team fell to Glenrock in a close match, 60-55, marking their third overall loss of the season. As of press time, Wheatland (4-2 conference, 9-3 overall) is ranked third behind No.1 Douglas and second-place Rawlins. The Herders are 7-8 (2-4 conference) and ranked sixth in the 3A East.

The Bulldogs wrapped up last weekend with a 41-point victory over the Worland Warriors. The Warriors are currently winless and are at the bottom of 3A East.

The Bulldogs were scheduled to take on the Burns Broncs. Burns is at just less than .50 on the season thus far and is ranked third behind Pine Bluffs in 2A Southeast. The Broncs are, as of press time, on a two-game losing streak.

Going into the weekend, the Bulldogs will square off against the Rawlins Outlaws on Friday and the Buffalo Bison on Saturday. The second-place Outlaws are on a roll, pocketing three wins in the past three weeks. Their overall record is currently 9-4 (5-1 conference).

The Bison are just below the middle of the 3A East pack at 9-4 overall and 3-2 within the conference. The Bison went 1-1 last week, beating Newcastle but losing to Torrington. Buffalo will take on Douglas before playing the Bulldogs.
