GUERNSEY-The Guernsey-Sunrise Vikings picked up a pair of wins this past week as they improved their season record to 5-2.
On Friday, the Vikings brought home a 41-31 win over the Midwest Oilers.
The Vikes shot just eight of 37 from two-point range and two of nine from three-point land. They hit 19 of 33 free-throws and were out-rebounded by the Oilers 37-31. They turned the ball over 20 times and grabbed 14 steals.
On Saturday, the Vikes played host to Rock River in their final home game before the holiday break. In one of their best performances to date in the season as they topped the Longhorns 79-64.
The Vikes put four players in double figures in the win.
As a team, the Vikes hit 28 of 76 from two-point range, three of 13 from the arc and 14 of 30 from the free-throw line.
They out-rebounded the Longhorns by a 45-28 margin and committed just 12 turnovers.
The Vikings will play just one more game at Southeast next Friday at Yoder. The junior varsity will play at 3 p.m. and the varsity will take on the Cyclones at 6 p.m. They’ll resume play after the holidays on Friday, January 4th at Morrill and Saturday, January 5th at Glendo.For the complete article see the 12-19-2012 issue.
