Posted: Wednesday, Oct 10th, 2012

MIDWEST – The Guernsey-Sunrise Vikings hit a rough spot in their road to the Six-Man football playoffs as they dropped their season record to 4-2 with a 20-53 loss to the Midwest Oilers last Friday at Midwest.

The Oilers held just a 12-8 lead at the end of the first quarter but the Vikings’ offense hit a wall in the second and third quarters. The Oilers pushed the lead to 26-8 by halftime and increased it to 51-20 by the end of the third stanza. A safety by Midwest was the only points put on the scoreboard in the final quarter by either team, putting the final score at 53-20 in favor of the Oilers.

The loss puts the Vikings in fourth place overall in the Class 1-A Six-Man standings.

The Vikings will host Meeteetse this Saturday for their 2012 Homecoming game. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.

The Vikes will finish their season on the road at Dubois on the 19th when they take on the Rams in a 1 p.m. contest.

The first two rounds of playoff games will be played on Friday, October 26 and Friday.

November 2 Championship games will be played in Laramie Friday, November 9 and Saturday, November 10 at War Memorial Stadium on the University of Wyoming campus.
