Take down Rawlins Outlaws, 42-8
The Wheatland High School Bulldogs were able to pick up a W for their record this past Friday, Oct. 16, after defeating the Rawlins Outlaws, 42-8.
Both teams went into the game winless. The Outlaws had some momentum going for them, as it was their Homecoming. Though the Outlaws were able to finish the game with 321 yards altogether, the Bulldogs dominated the game with 483 yards of total offense.
The Bulldogs got ahead in the first half by 22 points. Quinn Zimmerman picked up his first two touchdowns of the night in this half. Also scoring a TD for the Bulldogs was Kolby Braisted.
Zimmerman put points up on the board again for the Bulldogs in the second half at the 8:56 mark when he ran the ball in from 10 yards out.
The biggest touchdown of the night was another from Zimmerman when he ran the ball in from 52 yards out in the third quarter at the 4:43 mark.
The Bulldogs’ final touchdown came from Blake Balzan in the fourth quarter when he ran the ball in from five yards out.
Although the Outlaws had only one touchdown in the night, they managed to pick up 201 yards on the ground and 120 yards passing.
The Bulldogs finished the game with 473 yards on the ground.
“We just opened up running and finished that way because that’s what was working for us,” Zimmerman said.
Since running the ball seemed to work best for the Bulldogs, Anderson did not attempt a pass in the second half. He made seven pass attempts in the first half with one completion to Dan Pinneo for 10 yards.
The Bulldogs are now preparing for their game against Riverton. In order to make the Play-offs, the Bulldogs have to win this game.
“We’ve been watching a lot of film,” Zimmerman said with regards to their next game.
The game against Riverton will be held in Wheatland on Friday, Oct. 23. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
