The Wheatland Lady Bulldogs wrapped up 2009 regular season action with only one loss on their Conference Record, and are preparing to head to the 3A Regionals in Newcastle number one in their Conference.

On Tuesday, the Lady Dawgs hosted the Lady Trailblazers from Torrington. Wheatland took all three sets, 25-17, 25-11, and 25-19 for the Conference win.

On Thursday, Wheatland traveled to Rawlins to take on the Lady Outlaws. The four set game ended with scores of 25-19 Wheatland, 25-18 Rawlins, 25-19 Rawlins, and 25-15 Wheatland, with Rawlins taking the game by point.

On Friday, Wheatland played their final game of the regular season, hosting Senior Night against the Thermopolis Lady Bobcats.

The three match game ended well for Wheatland, who won all three sets 25-15, 25-9, and 25-14 for another Conference win.

On their only Conference loss, Wheatland Head Coach Kim Davis said Rawlins came out “fired up and ready to play.” “We need to be more focused as teams are determined to play their best when they face Wheatland, but I am sure we will work hard this week and be ready for the Regional Tournament.

Wheatland finishes the regular season with an overall record of 25-4, and a Conference record of 10-1.

In the 3A East Division, Wheatland is the top ranked team, followed by Rawlins in the second slot, and Glenrock in third.

Wheatland starts Regional action in Newcastle at 3:30 p.m. this Friday against Thermopolis. Bracket information is available at www.whsaa.org.
