Weather Alert: High Wind Watch

CHEYENNE - The National Weather Service (NWS) in Cheyenne has issued a high wind watch Thursday night through Friday morning beginning at midnight.

The NWS states strong winds are expected over portions of southeast Wyoming. A potent storm system is expected to affect the region and the Nebraska Panhandle.

The NWS projects sustained wind speeds between 35 and 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph. High profile and lightweight vehicles may be impacted along Interstate 25 between mile marker 64 and 74 near Bordeaux as well as Interstate 80 between Cheyenne and Laramie. Winds of this magnitude pose a blow-over risk. Motorists are urged to monitor the latest forecast and possible warnings.
