In a unanimous vote last Tuesday, Sept. 15, the Platte County Board of Commissioners denied a special permit request from Justin Joyner to subdivide his 1,040-acre Glendo area ranch into 22-acre parcels.
Joyner, who had subdivided the property previously into 35-acre parcels, wished to further subdivide the area.
The request had been approved for recommendation to the Board of Commissioners by the Platte County Planning and Zoning Board during their September 6 meeting with a 3-2 vote.
According to interim Platte County Planning and Zoning Director Dennis Becker, Joyner had verbally indicated his withdrawal from the permit application to County Engineer Ken Kennedy on Sept. 14.
Joyner was not present at the Sept. 15 meeting.
County Commissioner Tim Millikin made the motion to deny Joyner’s application, with Commissioner Terry Stevenson seconding the motion.
“Seeing as how he gave a verbal indication from Mr. Kennedy that he wanted to end [the application process], I think this is consistent with that communication,” Stevenson said.
While the application was denied, Becker said Joyner could reapply for a special permit again at a later date.
