Swirling snow can’t stop Main Street Trunk or Treaters

WHEATLAND — A cold and blustery Saturday started with a parade of dozens of children dressed up for Halloween in anticipation of the annual Trunk or Treat event downtown.

Children gathered in front of the BMO Bank building and headed north along 9th Street where their destination was the Platte County Library which hosted a costume contest, pumpkin decorating and a chance to get warm.

Thirty-six generous businesses in the downtown shopping district opened their doors on Saturday from 9:00am – 11:00 am, accommodating a fun experience for families and their children.

“It provides a safe place for the kids to trick or treat,” said Dan Brecht.  Platte County Main Street has been organizing this event for 15 years, and it is always a fun family activity even if you have to wear your mittens and snow boots!
