Students shine at Junior High and High School Rodeo

The Wheatland High School Rodeo Club plans this event several months ahead of time every year. Thanks to the support of many businesses that donated money and individuals that donate time the event can run smoothly. This was the last rodeo of the fall season for Wyoming, events will resume in the spring of 2024.

Students shine at Junior High and High School Rodeo

WHEATLAND — September 22nd through September 24th the Wheatland High School Rodeo Team hosted a Junior High and High School Rodeo. This event brought in over 220 families from all over Wyoming and some surrounding states. Friday, the 22nd the Junior High Rodeo was held at the Platte County Fair Grounds. Shooting Sports events took place at the Platte County Shooting Range and Platte County Trap Club. Reined Cow events were held at the Rafter MB Arena and Events Center. Saturday and Sunday, the 23rd and 24th, two rounds of High School Rodeo events were held at the Platte County Fair Grounds.

The Wheatland Rodeo Club members are: Caleb Hyche, Jacob Hyche, Ean McGuire, Jessie Graves, Rylee Griffis, Katie Miller and Madison McIntosh. The top 10 placings for members of the team for the Wheatland Rodeo were: Ean McGuire, third place in the first round boys cutting and second place in the second round of boys cutting; Katie Miller, ninth place in the first round of girls breakaway, ninth in the first round of reined cow horse, and eighth place in the second round of reined cow horse; Caleb Hyche, eighth place in the first round of reined cow horse, ninth place in the second round of reined cow horse; Jessie Graves, third place in the first round of trap shooting; Rylee Griffis, 10th place in the first round of barrels; Madison McIntosh, second place in the first round of barrels, second place in the second round of barrels and second place in the second round of poles.
