WHEATLAND — The Services for Seniors activity center is a hub of creativity and laughter — the best medicine around.
On Halloween, senior community members were invited to participate in a costume contest, games, and goodies. Everyone freely enjoyed finger foods and spooky-themed sweets. Best costume and door prizes were generously donated by the Wheatland Country Store in the form of Halloween-themed LED lanterns.
Twenty seniors flaunted their best Halloween garb and sang “Happy Birthday” to Craig “the Bulldog” Baker who insists that he’s “29 and holding.” Aren’t we all?
Meanwhile, bridge players had their own tournament going as well as cribbage, which is available every Tuesday. The activities center is still taking and looking for donations for the holiday season as they will be crafting and decorating. According to activities coordinator Carrie Kafka, items especially needed for the holidays are green wreaths, clear spray paint, ribbon, craft paint of all colors, and other holiday greenery. Donations can be brought to the activities center at 809 16th St.
