Derek Barton will be heard around the world this December.
The local KYCN Morning host and PRCA announcer formally or Buffalo and now living in Wheatland, along with PRCA Announcer, Steve Kenyon of Oregon, will be the official voices for the internet and radio broadcasters for this year’s Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (NFR) in Las Vegas.
The broadcasts will be aired on www.prorodeolive.com starting at 6:30pm (Las Vegas Time) Dec. 4-13, The broadcasts from the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, will allow listeners on the internet and radio stations around the country, to hear live play-by-play action from the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. It is the only place to hear all 10 rounds live. ESPN T.V will air 2 rounds live in the 10 day period. All other broadcasts on ESPN are a 2 hour delay.
Barton has been in broadcasting for over 30 years and announcing for 15 years.
Barton received his Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) card in 2001.
Kenyon is also a long time broadcaster and rodeo announcer.
Joining Barton and Kenyon for the 10-day event, slated for Dec. 4-13, will be Clint Corey, world champion bareback rider, Corey will be one of the commentators for the event. PRCA World Champions and current contestants for this years WNFR, will be stopping by the broadcast booth, to talk with Barton and Kenyon. Several area businesses from Platte County and Wyoming, have joined on as event sponsors for the premier event in rodeo.
