Carrol M. Carey, 81, of Hanna, Wyoming, died July 30 at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Carrol was born to Carrie and George Chisholm on May 9, 1928, at their homestead in the Rock Creek Community south of Lingle, Wyoming. Following her graduation from Veteran High School, she attended Central Business College in Denver, Colorado.
Carrol married Lawrence H. Carey on June 26, 1949, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. In addition to being a dedicated homemaker for her husband and five children, she played the piano for First Baptist Church of Wheatland, Wyoming, and taught children in Sunday school, vacation Bible school and other youth organizations.
Survivors include her sisters, Marjie Easdon of Northglenn, Colorado, and Mary Giddings of Pensacola, Florida; children, Becky Lyles of Boise, Idaho, Lanny Carey of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Melissa Carey of Rutherfordton, North Carolina, Roger Carey of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and JoDee Dennis of Elko, Nevada; a daughter-in-law, Becky Carey, and two sons-in law, Steve Lyles and Gary Joe Dennis; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Carrol's parents, Carrie and George Chisholm, her husband, Lawrence, her sister Loraine Whittaker of Marsing, Idaho, her brother Gerald Chisholm of Torrington, Wyoming, and her grandson Shiloh Carey preceded her in death. She will be buried in Wheatland, Wyoming, at a private family ceremony, on Monday, August 10.
A memorial gathering is planned for family and friends at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, at 512 E. 25th Street, Cheyenne, Wyoming.
