Norb Olind Construction has been awarded the contract to construct a new emergency services building in Glendo.
The Glendo Town Council awarded the contract to the Wheatland construction business during their Sept. 2 meeting. The lump sum price of the contract is $559,500.
This project comes as a result of the Capital Facilities One Percent Sales Tax, which was passed by Platte County voters in August of 2008.
Glendo Town Attorney Eric Jones is currently working on a contract, which will be signed at a later date.
Construction on the new building may begin as soon as Sept. 14.
Nine companies altogether bid on this project, which was narrowed to five companies before Norb Olind was selected.
The new building will be an 80x120 square foot metal building. It will have 10 bays and will be used by the Glendo Fire Dept., Glendo Ambulance Service and the Rural Fire Dept.
It will also have two training rooms for the Fire Dept. and Ambulance Service.
Norb Olind will be handling everything from the ground up, Glendo Town Clerk Brenda Hagen said.
Problems with the current emergency services building include roof leakage and mold infestation. The building also went through a fire in the mid-90s.
